Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, she served as the United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Her first job was in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
